The Favre Leuba Bivouac, introduced in the early 1960s, broke new ground in horology as the first wristwatch to feature both a barometer and an altimeter, designed specifically to withstand mountainous conditions.

The reference 53223 showcases this engineering marvel with a unique blue barometer scale on the dial for atmospheric readings, complemented by silver hour markers with tritium lume for low-light visibility. A small seconds sub-dial sits at 6 o'clock, adding an elegant touch, while the rotating black bezel (likely Bakelite) enables altimeter readings up to 3,000 meters.

This particular Bivouac remains in well-preserved pre-owned condition, with a sharp case and crisp engravings detailing its altimeter-barometer function. The dial is very nice and original and has a small chip on the rehault near 10 hr marker, with its black-and-blue color scheme, epitomizes vintage elegance. As the final version of Favre Leuba's first Bivouac series, this model captures both the spirit of adventure and timeless Swiss craftsmanship, making it a rare collector's piece.
